Overview/History
We take pride in offering an unparalleled combination of academics and complete year-round ski racing program for our student-athletes. We have found that the skiers who have the best experience at Rowmark are
- good students who take academics seriously,
- passionate, talented, hard working ski racers, and
- good citizens and teammates.
Our focus is on the complete student-athlete: academics, athletics, technique, tactics, physical conditioning, sports psychology, team work, and citizenship.
“The mission of Rowmark Ski Academy is to provide the best possible program for our athletes to develop their potential as elite ski racers, engaged students, positive role models, and contributing members of society.”
Rowmark Ski Academy was founded in 1982 by Olle Larsson and Dr. Carl Kjeldsberg as part of Rowland Hall's upper school, a 275 student, college-prep school in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, the 25-30 Rowmark skiers are full-time students at Rowland Hall and train 30 minutes from the campus at Park City's Olympic Race Arena, site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and Snowbird Resort, home to the world's best free skiing.
Rowmark Ski Academy is for athletes 9th grade and up. Rowmark skiers have the same graduation requirements as the other high school students at Rowland Hall, but do not have afternoon classes from December through March. Training begins right after lunch. Rowmark skiers race in the Intermountain Division of the United States Ski Association.
Since 1982 Rowmark skiers have had a great deal of success in regional, national, World Cup and Olympic competitions. The school is proud of their skiing accomplishments and the careers they have chosen.
"Here you find a rigorous, year-round racing program coupled with an extraordinary academic high school. There is nothing quite like it in North America."
